At In the Zone Angling we use an Alumacraft Competitor Sport 185 which provides a tremendous amount of versatility and safety when fishing Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and Hamilton Harbour. It works well for two person fly fishing and three person spin fishing excursions in both shallow and deep waters. The vessel is equipped with a Yamaha VMax SHO 150 hp main engine and a Motorguide Xi5 105 lb thrust electric motor. The vessel is commercially registered and equipped with safety equipment in compliance with Transport Canada regulations.
All guests are provided with very comfortable Mustang auto-inflatable PFDs which are required to be worn at all times by Transport Canada. No drugs or alcoholic beverages are allowed on board and In the Zone Angling reserves the right to refuse passage, or return to shore, any passenger that is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
While you are more than welcome to bring your favourite rod(s) and reel(s) for spin and fly fishing, In the Zone Angling will provide quality rods and reels appropriate for the season, species targeted and situation. Artificial lures, baits and flies will also be provided. If you want to bring your own flies let us know and we will recommend some favourite patterns.
Dress according to the weather forecast for cold and/or wet weather. Don't forget your polarized sunglasses, regardless of the weather forecast, for eye protection and better through-water visibility. Make sure to include a hat, sunscreen and sun protective clothing for sunny, hot days. Bring a lunch, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages in a compact container.
In theZone Angling practices catch and release and safe fish handling. We want you to have fun, capture some great memories with a quick picture of your fish, and watch it swim away to live, spawn and maybe even get caught another day.
Depending on the weather, time of year, and species we target, we may launch in Queenston, Fort Erie, Crystal Beach, Hamilton Harbour or other locations. We will be in touch to confirm the meeting place, and launch location, the evening before your fishing charter.
If you are a Canadian resident and you are under 18, or 65 and older, you do not need a fishing licence to fish in Ontario. You are also exempt if you are an active or veteran Canadian Armed Forces Member. In all cases you will need to provide government issued ID proving your age or military service on demand. Everyone else is required to carry a valid Ontario resident or non-resident fishing licence while fishing.
